Sexual Orientation:

Outline both the Kinsey model of sexual orientation and the Klein model of sexual orientation (Chapter 12). What is similar? What is different? If you’ve reviewed these two models to see where you may lie, discuss your results if you are willing. Were you surprised by your results? Why or why not? You may also discuss this in more vague terms–what do you think of these models?
Then, discuss some key points related to the issue of maintaining sex and gender binaries (male/female and masculinity/femininity) in society. Why are they problematic? In what ways do they influence a skewed understanding of the terms “sex” and “gender,” as well as conformity to particular sexual orientation(s)? This project attracts and draws my attention as well! First of all, The Kinsey Orientation is referred to he heterosexual and homosexual rating scale, is used in research to describe people as either homosexual, heterosexual or bisexual sexual orientation based on their experience or response or interview at a given time. I actually took Kinsey Scale Orientation for fun. As I expected, my score was 0. I wasn’t surprised at all because I am a healthy and ordinary guy who love women. The Klein Sexual Orientation Grid was developed by Friz Klein attempts to measure sexual orientation by refining upon the Kinsey Scale. I also took it and the result(score) was 0, which means exclusively heterosexual. I believe the difference between is that the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid is a more complex continuum and the Kinsey Scale is easy and simple. Klein Scale actually requires social preference, emotional preference, rates sexual attraction, sexual fantasies or sex behavior, lifestyle, and include how you define yourself(self-identification) and how you’ve felt about your orientation over time in the past, right now, and how you may feel in the future.
I am very curious that where homosexual, trans-gender, bisexual people fall on. I have a lesbian friend and she said that she doesn’t take to have a sex with man or woman. She had gotten into an argument with her friend about sexual orientation, her friend brought up this test. Her result wasn’t expected what she truly was, so I think The Kinsey Scale is not an actual test, it is rather a neat way to simply outline one’s sexual orientation for fun.

Most importantly, humans do not fit into categories(0-6) nor classify as a number from 0-6. A person’s sexual orientation is his or her current physical, mental, emotional, and sexual attraction to a male or female. I cannot even define “predominantly,” “incidentally,” and “more than incidentally.?
