“I?am?committed?in?pursuing?a?higher?education?in?the?academic?field?of?psychology.?Over?the?years?I?have
developed?much?passion?for?children?with?mental?disabilities?and?psychological?disorders.?Regardless?of?their
mental?limitations,?I?have?been?inspired?by?countless?youths?who?have?suffered?psychologically,?and?feel?only
obligated?to?engage?in?an?academic?study?in?this?field.?The?summer?of?2010?I?joined?a?program?called?Amigos?de
l?s?Americas.?As?a?volunteer,?I?lived?in?a?rural?community?in?the?Dominican?Republic?for?two?months?and?stayed
with?a?pleasant?host?family.?I?promoted?youth?leadership,?community?development?and?multicultural
understanding?in?the?Americas.?The?people?in?my?community?touched?my?heart?in?ways?that?I?can’t?thank?them
enough?for.?AMIGOS?provided?me?with?unparalleled?leadership?training?experience?that?has?served?me?well.?In
the?summer?of?2014?I?volunteered?for?the?program?African?Impact?and?went?to?Moshi,?Tanzania?for?one?month.?I
was?teaching?English?to?children,?teenagers,?members?of?the?Maasai?tribe?and?adults?in?the?local?community.?I
also?helped?raise?awareness?regarding?HIV/AIDS?in?the?community,?assisting?organizations?who?represent
marginalized?groups?in?society?such?as,?the?elderly.?Living?in?a?rural?Tanzanian?village,?I?experienced?life?in?a
typical?African?town,?and?had?the?opportunity?to?make?a?tangible?difference?to?a?community?and?within?myself.?I
took?the?things?in?my?life?less?for?granted?and?Africa?made?me?appreciate?everything?they?had.?Now?I?am?ready
to?take?the?next?step?in?making?a?difference?in?Costa?Rica?using?the?skills?and?tools?I’ve?been?taught?in?Amigos
and?African?Impact.?I?want?to?become?part?of?a?new?family?and?community?here?and?start?influencing?lives?for
the?better.?My?parents?came?from?a?rough?life?and?fought?for?their?success,?and?I?m?willing?to?do?the?same.?I
became?confident?in?everything?that?I?do,?not?caring?for?the?probability?of?failure.?Life?is?so?fragile?and?many
people?take?what?they?have?for?granted.?I?appreciate?what?I?have?and?have?always?done?the?best?I?can?in?any?task
thrown?at?me.?I?know?that?I?am?going?face?challenges?that?may?seem?undefeatable,?but?I?also?know?that?I?will
